DICE Releases Battlefield 5 Operation Underground Map Trailer

As DICE wraps up their fourth chapter of Tides of War for Battlefield 5, the studio still has one final content release coming; Operation Underground. The studio released an action-packed new trailer for the Battlefield 5 Operation Underground map earlier today, showcasing the frenetic, close-quarters combat which will dominate it. Plus, the studio has also announced when it will be coming to the game.

The Battlefield 5 Operation Underground Map

The Battlefield 5 Operation Underground map was inspired by the map “Operation Metro” which featured in Battlefield 3. “Fast, relentless action awaits below!” reads the trailer description; “Charge into the subway tunnels of a war-torn German city, using skills, squadmates, and shortcuts to survive. Fight your way to the plaza above where the mayhem continues.”

Indeed, as the trailer shows, the Operation Underground map won’t take place entirely belowground. It seems as though each side will start aboveground and descend into the metro tunnels to fight. The two forces will then try to push through and up to their opponent’s starting area. The subway will also offer players several different routes to progress, with one seemingly even allowing players to swim through flooded areas to flank the enemy from an unexpected direction.

Battlefield 5 Operation Underground Map Trailer

The Operation Underground map will be coming to Battlefield 5 in a free update on the 3rd of October. According to DICE, the recent release of Update 4.6, which mostly made balance tweaks and bug-fixes, also introduced some of the files needed to implement the new map. Operation Underground is also one of the final pieces of new content coming to the game as part of Chapter 4: Defying the Odds. The launch of Chapter 5 of Tides of War is drawing close; an event which is expected to be Battlefield 5’s biggest post-launch chapter yet. Indeed, the upcoming chapter will feature the Pacific theatre of the Second World War, something which fans have been requesting for a very long time.
