DICE Explains The Reason Behind Battlefield V Battle Royale

Announced at E3 2018, a Battlefield V Battle Royale mode is coming this fall to the popular FPS title. What was the reason behind this addition though? What does DICE plan to achieve with this implementation?

Speaking with Gamespot,  DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson at the EA Play event in Hollywood revealed that the idea of bringing a Battlefield V Battle Royale into the mix was purely a hint among coworkers. He stated:

“I would be lying [if I said] there weren’t people in the studio that would play [battle royale games] a lot,” Gustavsson said with a laugh. “We enjoy it. It’s good fun, and it brings a new perspective.”

DICE employees were excited about the possibility of playing their own type of battle royale title, instead of spending hours in Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Gustavsson also revealed that the addition of Battlefield V Battle Royale was the product of an “extremely big push” which he sees as a good sign since it comes from pure passion.

As it seems, DICE is bringing a Battlefield V Battle Royale mode to the famous upcoming title because they want to play the game, not profit out of it. Truth be told, with the amount of destruction and new features coming to Battlefield V, an iconic BR mode is the only thing missing. All the assets needed for this to happen are already there and DICE revealed that even aerial vehicles and huge land vehicles will play a role in the mode. This already sounds exciting.

We previously did a feature with things that we would want to see from a potential Battlefield V Battle Royale mode. Now that it is finally revealed, should we consider giving it another try? What would you want to see in the upcoming battle royale mode in Battlefield V?
