Eamon Farren Cast as Cahir in Witcher Netflix Series

Eamon Farren, an actor perhaps best known for his role as Cust in The ABC Murders, has been cast in the role of Cahir in the upcoming Witcher Netflix series. Cahir is likely to be one of the series’ central antagonists; a Nilfgaardian intelligence officer tasked with capturing Ciri. Cahir isn’t a black and white villain, however, and actually travels with Geralt for a time in the novels.

Eamon Farren’s Role as Cahir in the Witcher Netflix Series

Eamon Farren recently spoke to Metro about his role in the upcoming series; “I play Cahir,” he explains; “who is a knight – a dark force, I guess. He appears in the books as a true outsider in a sense, especially to a character called Ciri. He’s sort’ve the stuff of nightmares for her. He’s representative of something very dark and destructive for her, which, you know, is always very fun to play.”

Cahir Will Appear as a Villain in the Witcher Netflix Series

Cahir Mawr Dyffryn aep Ceallach enters Ciri’s story during the first Northern War. He is ordered to find and bring back Ciri by Emperor Emhyr, and comes close on a number of occasions. His initial failures draw Emhyr’s ire, making him desperate to succeed in order to avoid execution. Ciri has nightmares about Cahir after her encounters with him, and comes to see him as a terrifying threat.

His role of a terrifying pursuer of Ciri is eventually superseded by Leo Bonhart, however, while Cahir ends up joining Geralt’s company for a time. It’s unknown exactly what role he may play in the Witcher Netflix series. The show will be based on the books, but it’s possible that Cahir’s story could be changed in all manner of ways. Whatever the case, Cahir is likely to be one of the show’s main antagonists at the start, and especially important for Ciri’s character development. Indeed, he was one of several main characters who were first announced by Lauren Hissrich months ago.
