eMLS FIFA 19 All-Star Challenge Finals: Orlando City Duo Defeats FC Cincinnati Pair at Charity Tournament

With the Major League Soccer All-Star weekend going on in Orlando, Florida, it also brought FIFA eSports competition. On Sunday night, the exciting conclusion arrived for the eMLS FIFA 19 All-Star Challenge. While the tournament opened with a total of eight teams in the competition, just two remained. It was Fiddle and Billy representing the United States with FC Cincinnati against Abe and Anthony for Orlando City. Here’s a look at how the eMLS FIFA 19 All-Star Challenge Finals results played out.

eMLS FIFA 19 All-Star Challenge bracket

The Global Series’ FIFA 19 eWorld Cup is arriving soon, but before that, it was time for Major League Soccer’s charitable All-Star event. The eMLS held a special tournament involving teams consisting of a professional gamer with a celebrity teammate. Two teams had amateur gamers instead of celebrities. The winning team would get the glory of the victory and money donated to charity for their victory.

Here’s a look at the entire tournament bracket as it played out in Orlando, Florida, with two teams heading to the finals.

Orlando City captures win after 1-1 tie

Those teams were Billy Windgrove & Fiddle versus FIFA Abe and Anthony Medina. It was a tense regulation, as the two teams were able to stay even with each other throughout the matchup. However, things picked up when Fiddle had an early strike from Jozy Altidore to put FC Cincinnati up 1-0. The Orlando City side would even things up just a bit later with a Nani score, though. That would make things 1-1 as they went into halftime.

Neither team was able to capitalize on their opportunities in the second half. There were scoring opportunities but most were misses or easily fielded by the goalkeeper. The same score from halftime carried to the end of regulation. Despite an extra two minutes tacked on at the end of regulation, the game remained in a 1-1 deadlock.

The finals would end up being decided on penalty kicks. After several blocked penalty kick attempts, Abe and Anthony finally connected on two of theirs. Despite, FC Cincinnati netting one, the Orlando City side came up with a third penalty kick to win the finals. The home city fans celebrated the big win after they saw the Orlando City team claim victory.

With that, Orlando City represented by FIFA Abe and Anthony took the win in Orlando. For their victory in the eMLS FIFA Finals, the winning side received a $5,000 donation to their charity from Wells Fargo.

eMLS Finals lead to Major League Soccer All-Star events

eMLS is the official Major League Soccer gaming brand. It features FIFA eSports stars representing various teams affiliated with the MLS teams. FIFA Abe is a member of the Orlando City SC club and was joined by an amateur gamer who played his way into the tournament. In the semifinals, he and Anthony teamed up to defeat a squad consisting of former soccer star Landon Donovan and eMLS Cup 2019 winner Doolsta.

The big eMLS FIFA 19 All-Star Challenge leads into Major League Soccer’s upcoming All-Star events. Tuesday night will bring the first-ever MLS All-Star Skills Challenge live streamed on Twitch. Then, Wednesday, July 31, it will be the MLS All-Stars taking on Atletico de Madrid at 8 p.m. ET. All the action will also be available on television and online stream.
