FIFA 21 VOLTA Groundbreakers Players and Stadiums Revealed

EA has released a look at some of what’s to come in the returning FIFA 21 VOLTA mode. This time around, the mode will have new stadiums and players to conquer. Those players are known as FIFA 21 VOLTA Groundbreakers, with gamers able to recruit them for their own squad. EA revealed eight players available as Groundbreakers, along with six new stadiums ahead of the game’s launch in October.

FIFA 21 VOLTA Groundbreakers include Kylian Mbappe, Diplo

In similar fashion to EA’s Madden title, it appears they’ll not only have football stars available as FIFA 21 VOLTA players but also celebrities. They revealed that Diplo will be among the eight stars who gamers can conquer and recruit for their VOLTA squad in the new game.

He’ll join the FIFA 21 cover star Kylian Mbappe, boxer Anthony Joshua, Free Roam Arena legend Kaka, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Atletico de Madrid’s Joao Felix, and FIFA 21 ICON Eric Cantona.

EA has placeholder cards for each of the FIFA 21 VOLTA Groundbreakers at their website. They don’t contain any information yet, only “Coming Soon.” Those details may drop in the lead-up to the game, or during release. It is mentioned Groundbreakers are obtainable by winning FIFA 21 VOLTA Featured Battles to unlock them.

VOLTA stadiums revealed with screenshots

In addition to those Groundbreakers, we also got to see the newest FIFA 21 Volta stadiums where games can take place. They’ll include new stadiums for Dubai, Milan, Paris as shown in the Twitter images below.

There’s also Sao Paulo, Sydney, and the VOLTA Stadium. The latter of these brings a futuristic vibe with it, so it could be quite popular. The EA FIFA website includes an interactive map showing the various locations that gamers can play with their VOLTA squads.

The VOLTA mode originally debuted in FIFA 20. As far as how popular it is with gamers, that’s unknown. Comments on EA’s social media posts seem to indicate not many players use the mode, preferring other modes like FIFA Ultimate Team.

EA clearly brought it back for a reason, so there must be some players repeatedly enjoying the mode. The expansion of FIFA 21 VOLTA through new Groundbreakers players and Stadiums along with other rewards may give incentives for others to play more.

FIFA 21 has an official release date of October 9, 2020, for the Standard Edition. It will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PCs. However, there are ways to play the game earlier.

EA Play gives 10 hours of time to enjoy the game over a week early. Pre-orders of the Champions and Ultimate Edition of the game give gamers access to play the game starting October 6.
