God of War Dominates Digital Sales on PlayStation Throughout May

God of War has sold extremely well ever since its release. The game has topped sales charts week after week, dominating almost every chart throughout the month of May. Now, new figures reveal that the game has done just as well digitally as it has done with physical sales. God of War topped the digital sales charts for the PlayStation Store for the month of May.

In the United States, God of War dominated online sales for the PlayStation, scored the bestselling spot on the PlayStation 4, while the franchise also claimed the top spot for the PS Vita. On the PS4, Detroit: Become Human and Dark Souls: Remastered took the second and third spots. Although God of War did not release on the PS Vita, the system saw a surprise jump in sales of the PS Vita God of War Collection, which managed to become the month’s second most-downloaded game behind Persona 4 Golden.

Digital Sales in the UK, and in Europe as a Whole

God of War came out on top for PlayStation Store downloads in the US during May, and also in the UK, where it managed to see off both Detroit’s and Dark Souls’ challenges for its spot at #1. The game did not fare quite so well in the rest of Europe, however.

Detroit Become Human Dethroned God of War in Mainland Europe

but in Europe, Detroit: Become Human managed to claim that spot. God of War actually fell to the third place spot behind FIFA 18. Detroit’s physical release also managed to outsell God of War’s in Europe, ending the game’s five-week stint at #1. Detroit’s success is especially notable here, since the game released with just six days left in May. Impressively, Quantic Dream’s newest title managed to outsell God of War’s monthly performance in Europe in less than a week. The studio’s co-CEO recently tweeted that it was Quantic Dream’s most successful release ever.
