Breach, the upcoming co-op hack-and-slash RPG from QC Games, is launching via Steam Early Access on January 17. Those who want to try Breach ahead of its full F2P launch can do so by purchasing a pre-order package.
Breach Early Access Launch
Breach has a bit of an interesting story behind it. The game began life as a BioWare-developed titled called Shadow Realms before BioWare cancelled it in early 2015. A few years later, the indie developer QC Games (which is made up of former AAA devs) resurrected the game.
QC Games’ Breach retains many of the same characteristics as Shadow Realms including a modern-day setting infused with magic. Along with solo and co-op modes, Breach also retains what made Shadow Realms really stand out: asymmetrical multiplayer. If they so choose, groups of four players can challenge a fifth player controlling a powerful ‘Veil Demon.’ The Veil Demon can both indirectly and directly hamper the group’s efforts, providing the ultimate challenge for co-op groups.

If playing as the Veil Demon isn’t your thing, Breach also features a robust character creation system for standard characters. Players can choose from a number of different classes like the Gunslinger, Elementalist, or Assassin and customize them accordingly. Breach’s diverse character class system and fast-paced action-focused combat ensure it will have wide-ranging appeal.
For the Steam Early Access launch, interested fans must purchase a pre-order package to play. These packages range in price from $25 up to $99 and they each grant access to exclusive in-game bonuses. You can purchase the pre-order packages from the official Breach website.
The full version of Breach doesn’t yet have a solid release date but QC Games promises it’s coming in 2019. When Breach finally does exit its Early Access phase, it will be a F2P title supported by optional microtransactions.
