Laches the Eternal is Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Latest Mercenary

Mercenaries have been an interesting part of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, to say the least. Adding an extra degree of varied gameplay, they serve as genuine challenges at most; and fun distractions at the very least. While some have boasted comedic names and backstories, others are much simpler beings. Laches the Eternal is one such man.

Set ‘Em Up to Knock ‘Em Down

Unlike many other mercenaries who have garnered nicknames given by others, Laches took a different approach. Given his considerable strength and prowess in battle, the mercenary took it upon himself to find a fitting name. This prompted him to look back on his history of victorious battles, leading him to believe the gods had gifted him immortality. Thus the simple man dubbed himself Laches the Eternal.

The Eternal may not be just so for much longer, however. If the protagonist has anything to say about it, his nickname may soon prove to be of little meaning. Found on the isle of Keos near the city of Koressia, Laches will be ready and ripe for the killing.

Take out his pet lion, then the Eternal himself for an epic level weapon. Laches’s Eternal Lance offers excellent bonuses for those looking to dole out extra damage. The primary buffs to the lance include bonus assassin and warrior damage, as well as a randomly generated variable. For those looking to tackle the challenge, the reward may be well worth it.

While not as purely silly as the recent Testiklos the Nut, Laches is still an important addition. His presence has expanded the list of available mercenaries and delivered on Ubisoft’s promise of more content. So far they have more than delivered with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and fans are constantly being kept busy. This is likely Ubisoft’s goal, as they likely prepare for the announcement of the as yet untitled Assassin’s Creed 2020.
