Madden 20 Title Update: Training Refunds, Stumbling Ball Carriers, & Changes for Superstar X-Factor

A massive new Madden 20 title update arrived for the game on Thursday, October 17 that included quite a number of changes. In particular, a few of the highlights are refunds for spent Training in the game, the re-introduction of stumbling ball carriers, and new Superstar X-Factor players. Here’s a look at what those changes are an how some affect the game.

Madden 20 title update changes to Superstar, X-Factor abilities & players

A few players have been replaced in the Superstar X-Factor group with this new Madden 20 title update. The Vikings RB Dalvin Cook replaces Melvin Gordon (Chargers). The Packers CB Jaire Alexander replaces the Steelers Ben Roethlisberger, and Chiefs DT Chris Jones replaces Cam Newtown (Panthers).

In particular, Cook has “First One Free” as his X-Factor. He also has Juke Box and Inside Zone Guru as his Superstar Abilities. Alexander gets “Shutdown” for X-Factor along with Man-up and Acrobat for Superstar Abilities. Meanwhile, Chris Jones has “Fearmonger” for X-Factor. His Superstar Abilities are Power Move Specialist and Under Pressure.

EA downgraded running back Melvin Gordon and QB Ben Roethlisberger to just Superstar players. Gordon has Juke Box and Roethlisberger has Sleight of Hand Ability.

Five other players have updates as Superstar players:

  • Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp has Cross Route Specialist
  • Titans safety Kevin Byard has Pick Artist
  • Buccaneers linebacker Shaquil Barrett has Edge Rush Elite
  • Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark has Insider Stuff
  • Falcons linebacker Deion Jones has Lurker

The following six players no longer hold abilities in Madden 20: Cowboys MLB Leighton Vander Esch, Panthers QB Cam Newton, Vikings WR Stefon Diggs, Saints CB Marshon Lattimore, Bears RB Tarik Cohen, and Browns QB Baker Mayfield.

They’ve noted that these changes affect Ultimate Team Solos and not Franchise mode just yet. A future update will bring the changes to Franchise.

Ball carrier fixes, Training refunds, & more

The new update brought a number of cosmetic, global updates, and gameplay fixes. In particular, the EA developers wanted to patch up some in-game issues involving running the ball. They’ve re-introduced stumbling ball carriers for certain instances in the game when running into traffic. This should prevent gamers from exploiting certain runs. In addition, they reduced the frequency of “auto-broken” tackles against AI-controlled or user-controlled defenders using a conservative tackle style in Competitive games.

While the above change had a mixed reaction to it, the arrival of refunds for Training was certainly met with many cheers. The Madden 20 title update is bringing the ability into the game to get a 90 percent refund of spent Training when downgrading players’ Superstar X-Factor, Abilities, or Chemistry upgrades. That’s a nice addition which will allow gamers who upgrade to different players the ability to recoup their Madden 20 Training for other uses down as necessary.

Of course, the new title update also brought a major issue with it as reported by “Agent K” of the EA Madden team on Twitter. A number of gamers were complaining that the Abilities they purchased in Madden 20 were suddenly gone. That brought with it the delay of the newest program for Ultimate Team called Most Feared.

These are really just a few highlights in many changes. We also saw new Superstar KO players introduced including Snoop Dogg as well as changes to that mode, Franchise, and more.
