Monster Hunter: World Reaches One Million Pre-Orders on Chinese Gaming Platform ‘WeGame’
Capcom’s Monster Hunter: World is finally seeing release on PC next month and it seems that fans in China are very excited for the action-RPG, so much that the Chinese gaming platform, WeGame, has seen over one million pre-orders on the game since being up on the site for just under two weeks on July 10. Being the first mainline Monster Hunter game to release on multiple platforms, it’s no surprise to see people eating it up, especially since it’s also the first time a Monster Hunter game has been translated into simplified Chinese on PC.
Now, this high number of pre-orders might not directly equate to sales since pre-orders on WeGame do not cost any money, and will only charge users once the game is released. Still, people over in China can’t seem to wait to get their hands on Monster Hunter: World.
Meanwhile, Capcom has also announced an animated special based on the franchise, titled ‘Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild.’ The animated special will tell the tale of a brave young man determined to prove himself as a hunter worthy of recognition. His chance will come all too soon when he discovers that his remote village lies in the path of an Elder Dragon, one of the most feared monsters in the series. Legends of the Guild is set to premiere sometime next year and is being co-produced by Pure Imagination Studios, the same studio behind the LEGO Batman movie.
Monster Hunter: World is out now for PS4 and Xbox One, with the PC release coming on Aug 9, 2018. Will you guys be picking up Monster Hunter on PC?
