We say “stars” as there are a few different editions of the upcoming game. In addition, there’s a release date and pre-order information. New Lakers star among NBA 2K20 Cover Athletes
With the NBA 2K19 cover, 2K gave the Greek Freak the front of their game. It actually ended up being a precursor for his MVP season, something the game may have predicted. Now, the newest star of the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Davis, will become one of the NBA 2K20 cover athletes. An official tweet arrived showing the brand new Anthony Davis 2K20 cover (below).
His inclusion as one of the NBA 2K20 cover athletes marks the second time that Davis has been on the front of the game. Back in 2015, Anthony Davis graced the cover of the NBA 2K16 game. However, that was as a member of his now former team in New Orleans. With his arrival to the Los Angeles Lakers, it makes sense to have him on the new game, as fans are expecting big things from AD and LeBron.
New game’s release date, pre-order details
The new NBA 2K20 release date officially arrives on Friday, September 6, 2019. Gamers can choose from three different editions too with the Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Legends Edition. The Legends Edition features recently-retired Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade on the cover. The Digital Deluxe version will feature Anthony Davis but with a slightly different color scheme on the front.
Wade had an honorary All-Star season this past year and a city-by-city NBA tour in which he swapped jerseys with specific players from the teams he played. He also left a few memorable highlights here or there for fans as part of his legendary career.
