NHL 20 Roster Update Brings Trade Deadline Changes to Game, But No David Ayres

A brand new NHL 20 roster update officially arrived in the EA hockey title as of Tuesday. With the update, gamers will now have access to all of the big moves that took place right up to the NHL trade deadline. We look at some of the previews that NHL 20 gave of the big player trades including Ilya Kovalchuck and Patrick Marleau. Now all of the trades should be official in-game. In addition, there’s one player that fans want to see in the game, but unfortunately, he won’t be there.

NHL 20 roster update is available

On the main screen, gamers should see a Gameplay Update shown on part of the menu. By selecting this, it will download a quick update including NHL 20 roster update changes for the game. So that should make all the trade deadline moves official.

We outlined four of the “old faces” in “new places” that NHL 20 showed off a few days ago including Kovalchuck and Marleau.

Some of the other trades that recently took place ahead of the deadline included the Vegas Golden Knights getting Robin Lehner and Martins Dzierkalis from Chicago and the Carolina Hurricanes getting defenseman Sami Vatanen from New Jersey. The Hurricanes also got Brady Skjei from the New York Rangers. Check out a full trade tracker via the NHL website.

No David Ayers in the game?

David Ayres became a hockey hero last week when he went from operations manager at Coca Coliseum to goaltender for the Carolina Hurricanes. Not only did he fill in when needed, but he was part of the team’s 6-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Since that big moment, the NHL video game has been teasing Ayres being part of their game. However, he isn’t found in the new NHL 20 roster update.

At least one fan asked on the new roster update tweet about David Ayres being available in the game. Community manager Clappy indicated that NHL 20 doesn’t have the rights to Ayres so he won’t be in the game anytime soon.

However, fans are hoping that maybe EA will make something happen in honor of the overnight sensation David Ayres. Who knows, he may even become an NHL All-Star if he gets more time to shine.
