Pokemon GO Players Are Coming Back To The Game

Pokemon GO has just received a new update adding new challenges and the friend and trading features. Due to this, the playerbase of the game has risen to its maximum state since its release in summer 2016, climbing up a few steps on the mobile games charts.

According to a new report from the market analysis firm SuperData Research, Pokemon GO has seen a large growth to its playerbase over the last month, possibly due to the game’s later update. Fans are coming back to check out the new features, complete their Field Research Challenges and get their hands on the new rewards.

The chart that SuperData revealed, ranks Pokemon GO at number 4 of the mobile game charts, right after Honour of Kings, QQ Speed and Fantasy Westward Journey. All of the other games are mostly succesful in China, making Pokemon GO the only one with international success claiming such a spot.

The analysis description for Pokemon GO reads:

Pokemon Go poised for a strong summer. Pokemon Go generated $104 million in May, up 174% year-over-year. The player base increased to the highest level since the game’s peak in 2016 – just in time for the usual summer bump that goes hand-in-hand with the game’s walkabout gameplay.

Other than the repetitive nature of Pokemon GO, players have started to move away from it due to the huge amount of hackers and spoofers taking advantage of fake GPS locations and farming bots. Niantic has since then taken action with huge ban waves and warnings for those that didn’t overabuse the system.

We’ll have to wait and see how the new update affects the stability of the game, not only in aspect of its playerbase and success but also for the way users play. Niantic has created a failsafe that players have to be close to be able to trade Pokemon so abusing the trading system and be able to sell them in any way is almost impossible.
