PS5 Pre-Orders Are Finally Available at Select Retailers

Following today’s PlayStation 5 Showcase, fans have at long last been told the retail price of the upcoming next-gen console. More importantly, however, PS5 pre-orders are now available from select retailers, giving gamers the opportunity to pre-order ahead of its newly-announced mid-November release date.

PS5 Pre-Orders and Retail Price

While the PS5 Showcase today covered a wide range of different topics related to the upcoming console, perhaps the biggest news was the announcement of the PS5 retail price and the opening of pre-orders. Of course, on top of this comes the news of the console’s official release date; the 12th of November in the US or 19th of November in Europe.

PS5 Pre-Orders Finally Available 2

At present, the PS5 is available to pre-order from various retailers, with more likely to launch pre-order bundles very soon. The standard PS5 console is retailing for $499.99/£449.99. Meanwhile, the PS5 Digital Edition is substantially cheaper, coming in at $399.99/£359.99. Consumers should note that each console does come with a single PS5 DualSense Controller. Of course, the lower cost may be a major incentive. However, fans should bear in mind that the Digital Edition of the PS5 lacks a disc drive. As such, you won’t be able to play any game discs on the console. (This may be especially relevant for players with extensive libraries of backwards compatible PS4 or older games.)

In addition to the console itself, the DualSense Controller itself is also available to pre-order separately, as is the Pulse 3D Headset. Now that the console itself is available to pre-order, with a firm release date, many publishers are likely to start announcing the release dates of their upcoming PS5 games. Players, however, may find that some new games retail for more than usual; Sony has indicated that their first-party next-gen games will cost $69.99 rather than the more traditional $59.99. (Providing an excuse for other publishers to follow suit.)
