Resident Evil 2 Ghost Survivors: No Time to Mourn Gameplay Tips

The previously teased Ghost Survivors DLC for the Resident Evil 2 remake is now live. The free DLC expansion drops players into a series of playable “what if?” scenarios starring new playable characters. The first of those scenarios is No Time to Mourn starring Kendo gun shop owner Robert Kendo. In this guide, we’ll share some handy gameplay tips for making it to the end of No Time to Mourn.

One thing to note is that Ghost Survivors feels more akin to the 4th Survivor bonus scenario than the main campaign. The player starts at point A and must make it to point B using limited resources. Of course, there’s a whole bunch of undead enemies standing in the way, and they’re mighty hungry.

Knowing when to fight and when to flee is paramount when working through the Ghost Survivor scenarios. Proper resource allocation and being able to think (and react) on the fly help as well. Also, don’t be afraid to utilize the Ghost Survivors training mode if you get really stuck.

Stay Back From Purple Smoke Zombies

There are three new zombies types in Ghost Survivors, one for each of the playable episodes. In No Time to Mourn, the new enemy type is purple smoke zombies. These zombies are easy to spot since their skin is purple and purple smoke wafts from their heads.

If a purple smoke zombie bites you, you’ll become poisoned. Same if you’re caught in the smoke cloud they release upon death. Try to eliminate purple smoke zombies from a distance with your handgun if you can. Having a blue herb or two on your person doesn’t hurt either.

Know Your Routes

Once you reach the sewers, there are two different routes you can take down into the sewers’ lower levels. The leftmost path from the upper level is a bit easier since you’ll only encounter one G-Shambler along the way. That route also has a plant zombie, though, so make sure you’re ready to deal with it.

Supply Scavenging

Zombies with large packs on their backs drop those packs when killed or incapacitated. Those packs contain useful items so they’re worth getting whenever possible. Gumball-style vending machines, meanwhile, only grant one item out of their three-item stock so you have to choose wisely.

It also helps to know the limits of your inventory management. Ammo-crafting supplies like gunpowder can be combined with your inventory items straight from an external storage source, as can herbs. This means that you can still “pick up” such items even if your inventory is full. However, external ammo can’t be placed directly into a weapon even if its clip is empty. If you have no other option, you can discard weapons to make room, but we don’t recommend it.
