With the Resident Evil 2 remake, Capcom is banking hard on fans’ nostalgia in ways both new and old. Those who played the original 1998 Resident Evil 2 might remember, for example, a hidden Rebecca Chambers photo easter egg. Well, that same easter egg is also present in the remake, though the process of finishing it is slightly different.
Resident Evil 2: Who is Rebecca Chambers?
Newer Resident Evil fans may not even know who Rebecca Chambers is, so here’s a quick primer. Rebecca is a member of S.T.A.R.S., the elite Raccoon Police outfit from the original Resident Evil. Other members of S.T.A.R.S. include Resident Evil protagonists Chris Redfield (Claire Redfield’s brother) and Jill Valentine.
In the original Resident Evil, Rebecca appeared as a non-playable character alongside Barry Burton and Albert Wesker. Then, in the 2002 prequel title Resident Evil Zero, players got to control Rebecca directly. More recently, Rebecca appeared as a DLC character in Resident Evil 5’s Mercenaries mode.
Resident Evil 2 Rebecca Chambers Easter Egg
In the original Resident Evil 2, a photo of Rebecca could be found in the S.T.A.R.S. offices. However, finding the photo required using the “search” prompt on Albert Wesker’s desk a total of fifty times. Remake fans can rest easy, though, as Capcom has decided to spare them any monotonous button pressing.
To find the remake’s hidden Rebecca photo, one need simply follow the same steps as the Treasure Hunter achievement. Locate the ‘Hiding Place’ film in the sewers, head back to the RPD Station, and develop the film. Doing so unlocks a hiding place in Wesker’s desk which contains a weapon attachment box.
After finding the weapon attachment, go ahead and search Wesker’s desk a second time. There won’t be any prompt indicating it can be searched but it’s possible. Searching the desk a second time grants a hidden roll of film. Develop that film and you’ll unlock a slightly NSFW photo of Rebecca.
