Sekiro Elemental Damage Mod Allows Players To Infuse Their Sword With Powerful Effects

Sekiro’s modding community has been steadily testing the game’s limits since its launch last month. So far, we’ve gotten things like alternate character skins and even an “easy mode” of sorts.

A new mod from Nexus Mods user choongjing falls somewhere in-between the above two examples. Not only does the mod enable unique damage buffs, it also gives each of them a coo-looking visual effect.

Choongjing’s ‘Elemental Weapon Buffs’ mod adds five items to the player’s inventory. When used, each item conveys a corresponding weapon buff which boosts the player’s damage and triggers a unique visual effect. Each buff also lasts five minutes and the buffs can be reapplied indefinitely as needed. The five items and their corresponding buffs are as follows:

  • Withered Red Gourd – Grants 20 percent bonus fire damage and sheaths the player’s sword in fire.
  • Mottled Purple Gourd – Grants 20 percent bonus divine damage and sheaths the player’s sword in purple fire.
  • Green Mossy Gourd – Multiplies the player’s posture damage by 1.25 percent and gives their sword a mottled brown effect.
  • Eel Liver – Grants 35 percent bonus lightning damage and gives the player’s sword a lightning visual effect
  • Ako’s Spiritfall – Doubles the player’s damage output and multiplies their total health by 1.3 percent. However, the player also slowly loses health every second while the buff is active. The player’s sword is also sheathed in fire and their eyes glow red.

Much like the other mods we mentioned, the Elemental Weapon Buffs mod needs the Sekiro Mod Engine. Once the engine is installed, instructions on how to install choongjing’s mod can be found on the Nexus Mods page. The Nexus Mods page also has a full gallery of images showing the various visual effects from each weapon buff.

There’s no word yet on whether From Software plans on releasing any traditional DLC for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Fortunately, modders are all too happy to fill the gap in the meantime with clever creations like choongjing’s. We’ll keep sharing any other cool Sekiro mods we find in the near future.
