If you’ve explored the Toxic Valley region of Fallout 76, or indeed, if you’ve completed the Bureau of Tourism side-quest, you’ve likely comes across Wavy Willard’s Waterpark. This large site can be found on the northern edge of the Toxic Valley and is dominated by a statue of a giant crocodile. The Waterpark is also where you can find the Fallout 76 Cold Case side quest.
How to Complete the Fallout 76 Cold Case Side Quest?
The Cold Case side quest requires you to conduct an investigation into the derelict Waterpark, and as a reward, you will gain a modded 10-mm SMG called the Perfect Storm! The only way to initiate the quest is to go to the Waterpark and speak to Miss Annie. She can be found below the mouth of the crocodile.
Once you’ve spoken to Miss Annie and begun the side quest, you’ll have the objective; “Access the Security System”. To do this, you need to enter a building near the entrance of the Waterpark. You can hack the security terminal which seals the door or simply pick the lock. If you have neither hacking or lockpicking Perk Cards, search around the outside of the building to find a small hole which you can enter through instead.
Inside the building, be sure to read all of the “Holotape Review” entries on the security terminal. Once you have, unlock the safe which is behind the terminal and retrieve a holotape. A second holotape can be found downstairs beneath the Slither Slide Terminal. You’ll need to listen to both of these, and then go back up the stairs to retrieve notes from a mailbox. The next thing you need to retrieve is the KidSecure ID. You can find this on the top of the Slither Slide, in the northeast portion of the Waterpark.
Repairing the KidSecure ID and Continuing Onwards
Once you retrieve the KidSecure ID, you’ll find that it’s broken, but can be repaired. To repair the item, you’ll need to take it to a Tinker’s Workbench. (One can be found close by at the Willard Corporate Housing site, which is a short distance east of the Waterpark.) Repairing the item requires 1 Nuclear Material, 3 Adhesive, and 1 Circuitry. Repairing the item is optional, however, and you can simply continue on without doing so. Your next stop will be the Clarksburg Post Office.
Once you arrive at the Post Office in Clarksburg, use the Terminal and select the “Search by BOX NUMBER” option. Then select “Box 12”; when you’ve done this, you’ll need to head to Otis Pike’s house. The house can be found in Grafton, near the southern end of town. In the house, head down to the basement and use Otis’ terminal. Select the “Correspondence” topic and then read the “Dam Safety Inquiry.” The next step is to enter the Grafton Dam itself. You can either pick the lock on the dam entrance, which is a Level 3 lock, or use the secret entrance. Look for a walkway around the side of the building and there should be a way for you to jump down into a broken pipe. Inside, you can find keys to unlock the dam.
Once you’ve investigated the dam, make your way northwest out of Grafton to the Woods Estate. On the upper floor you should be able to find a terminal. Beneath it is “Freddy’s Hasty Note,” the last item you need to complete the quest. Return to Miss Annie to finish things off. You’ll be rewarded for your efforts with the Perfect Storm, a modded 10-mm SMG. You’ll also receive random ammo and aid items.
