Soulcalibur 6 Will See the Return of Series Favorite Talim

Bandai Namco has already confirmed a number of familiar faces that will appear on the roster for Soulcalibur 6, including Mitsurugi, Ivy, Maxi, and Sophitia among others. Now, the game’s latest trailer has added one more name to that list: the wind priestess Talim.

Talim will make her triumphant return.

Talim’s addition to the Soulcalibur 6 roster is significant for several reasons. Not only has she been a longtime fan favorite since her original introduction in 2003’s Soulcalibur 2, but she was also noticeably absent from Soulcalibur 5’s selection of fighters (Soulcalibur 5 also failed to include other series mainstays like Xianghua and Taki). As you can see in the below character reveal trailer, Talim is back with her signature wind blade tonfas, which she’ll use to strong effect along with her wind-based magic and agile combat style.

Talim’s reveal trailer also subtly confirms the return of another familiar fighter who was benched in Soulcalibur 5: the scythe-wielding Zasalamel (viewers can spot Zasalamel as one of the fighters Talim is squaring off against). Zasalamel doesn’t have quite the same amount of cachet as Talim (he didn’t join the series until Soulcalibur 3), but his presence in Soulcalibur 6 will likely still be appreciated by fans nonetheless.

As for Soulcalibur 6 fighters who are entirely new to the series, only two have been announced so far. First, there’s the oddly named Grøh, and second is the game’s guest fighter: The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia.

The presence of Talim and Zasalamel bring the total number of fighters confirmed for Soulcalibur 6 up to 14, and there will likely be many more character reveals between now and the game’s release date. Speaking of which, Bandai Namco previously confirmed that Soulcalibur 6’s release date is October 19. Along with an in-depth story mode, the game will also have at least one other single-player experience, though Bandai Namco is keeping the details of that experience under wraps for the time being.
