In a recent interview with Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun (Translated by Serkan Toto); The current president of Nintendo Shuntaro Furukawa declared that Super Smash Bros Ultimate sold 5 Million copies. He said that the reason behind the success is because the Nintendo Switch is the home console seeing the fastest software sales so far in Nintendo’s history.

During the same interview, Furukawa also said that the pacing of sales has increased in November 2018. This isn’t that surprising considering that it’s one of the most active months on the year. However, part of the success can also be attributed to the Pokemon: Let’s Go! Pikachu/Eevee games.

Also, Shuntaro Furukawa said that the Nintendo Switch is currently offered in 60 countries. He also said that Nintendo is looking for future developments in the mobile market. The president said that he sees smartphone gaming as a pillar of earnings. Furthermore, he wants to land smartphone hits and publish multiple apps across multiple fields.

Unfortunately, he didn’t provide any more details regarding what “Multiple fields” meant. However, maybe this is referring to Nintendo’s sudden interest on VR projects. Of course, we might see more developments or announcements during future Nintendo Directs.
