The Last Remnant Will Stop Being Sold on Steam Next Month, Square Enix Announces

Square Enix has announced on Steam that the Xbox 360 console exclusive JRPG The Last Remnant will no longer be available for purchase on PC via Steam starting next month. Sales of the game will conclude on September 4, 2018 in North America and Europe and September 5, 2018 in Japan. Fans who want it on PC should act now while there is still time.

Those Steam users who purchase the game between now and its end date will be able to keep The Last Remnant in their library of games. Of course, this also includes those who have already purchased the title in the past on Steam. The announcement from Square Enix regarding this store removal only mentions the PC version and not the Xbox 360 one.

The Last Remnant Steam

As of right now, The Last Remnant is not available for backward compatibility on Xbox One so it remains to be seen if it will ever happen. However, other Xbox 360 exclusive JRPG’s have made it to Xbox One through backward compatibility in the past like Lost Odyssey. Regardless, if the game interests you in the slightest, we highly recommend purchasing it now if you have any plans in the future to play it on PC.

The Last Remnant follows Rush as he is swept up in a global conflict as he attempts to save his sister. The gameplay is very unique, having you command multiple squadrons in massive pseudo-turn-based strategy battles. There really isn’t any JRPG gameplay like it out there still to this day so it’s worth checking out.

The story is pretty decent and the exploration is satisfying enough, too. While the sad news of The Last Remnant being removed from Steam is unfortunate, there are a ton of great JRPG’s out there right now to fill the gap. We recommend that you check out our recent posts on Octopath Traveler and Sikanda.
