Total War Saga: Troy – Blood & Glory Pack Launches This Week

It has now been roughly three months since the launch of Total War Saga: Troy, the third installment of the Total War Saga series. In that time, Creative Assembly has released one major DLC; the Amazons race pack. However, later this week, they will be releasing a second; Blood & Glory. The DLC will be available from the 29th of October.

Total War Saga: Troy DLC – Blood & Glory

The Total War Saga: Troy Blood & Glory DLC is one which should be fairly familiar to Total War fans by now; the customary blood effects pack. Creative Assembly has released a small blood pack DLC for almost every Total War game. (Not including blood in the base game allows Total War games to have a lower age rating and be more widely advertised.) Typically, these blood packs are released on launch day, or within the first week or two. However, it has taken much longer for Troy’s to arrive.

Fan reception of the blood pack is typically ambivalent at best, negative at worst. As a result, the more recent blood packs have featured more features and options in order to justify its cost. Total War: Three Kingdoms’ blood DLC was the first to feature a range of effects sliders to allow players to customise the level of gore and other factors. The Blood & Glory DLC takes those features and also includes a range of new effects never featured in a blood pack before.

With this DLC installed, players will be able to customise the bloodshed in battle, but there will also be effects on the campaign map (and decapitation effects for combat animations). If you fight a battle near a river, that river will temporarily run red with blood, for example. Additionally, if a battle results in a particularly high number of casualties, players will be able to erect a Tropaion. This bloody monument is visible on the campaign map and marks the site of the battle.
