Until Dawn Devs Announce the Dark Pictures Anthology, a Series of Standalone Horror Games

No, it’s not Until Dawn 2, but Supermassive Games has something even better that they just announced during Gamescom 2018. The development team is teaming up with publisher Bandai Namco to bring The Dark Pictures Anthology to PS4, PC, and Xbox One. This anthology is set to act as a series of standalone cinematic horror games, starting with one called Man of Medan, which is set to launch in 2019 – you can check out the first trailer for that below:

Here’s what to expect from this series of horror games from Supermassive boss, Pete Samuels (via Eurogamer):

“Each game in the series will feature a brand new story, setting, and characters. The Anthology format gives us the opportunity to tap into a variety of horror sub-genres. We’ve identified 39 that we’d love to represent in the Anthology, but that would take some time! The story of Man of Medan starts off on a dive boat in the South Pacific. With a rumoured WWII wreck to find, and plenty of on-deck partying to be had, our group of four young Americans and their skipper Fliss get ready for what should be the trip of a lifetime… but it doesn’t go quite to plan. As the day unfolds, and a storm rolls in, they find themselves trapped on board a ghost ship. Subjected to unimaginable stress and terror, they must try to find a way to escape the ship and its sinister history.”

Man of Medan, the first title to come out of The Dark Pictures Anthology is set to release in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco didn’t speak on when the other games in the anthology would release, but we will keep you guys up to date when that announcement does indeed happen.

You can check out Supermassive Games’ latest two releases, Bravo Team and The Impatient, on PlayStation VR.
