WWE 2K20 Hits Blue Carpet for SmackDown Premiere, Cover Stars Appear in Matches Before PPV

It was a big night for WWE on Friday night as the blue brand show made its official debut on the Fox channel. WWE’s Friday Night SmackDown had its premiere episode and WWE 2K20 was on the blue carpet as part of the pregame kickoff show. A number of photos popped up on social media showing off the various WWE superstars and legends on the blue carpet, posing with the upcoming video game. In addition, the WWE 2K20 cover stars were a part of the SmackDown episode’s match card.

WWE 2K20 on SmackDown blue carpet

To help in promoting the upcoming WWE 2K20, a number of legends and superstars posed on the blue carpet holding up different editions of the game. That included legends such as Sting, Goldberg, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, Lita, Trish Stratus, and Mick Foley. Current superstars The Miz, The IIconics, and Street Profits were also featured in a montage of photos on the WWE 2K20 account.

Other photos arrived from the SmackDown blue carpet with Ricochet, as well as the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. The SmackDown premiere episode along with the blue carpet arrived just days after a new WWE 2K20 gameplay trailer hit the internet.

Of course, the social media display has a number of gamers in the community still frustrated over the lack of more WWE 2K20 entrances or a roster reveal. The game is 17 days away from its release date, as of this report, so fans are still awaiting a look at who all is officially on the roster. The recent gameplay trailer gave some hints and surprises, such as Tommaso Ciampa and Toni Storm being included in this year’s game.

Cover stars appear on SmackDown premiere

Since the game was amongst the show’s sponsors, the WWE 2K20 cover stars were also in the spotlight when SmackDown made its debut on Fox this past Friday evening. Becky Lynch came out to open the show, before being interrupted by King Baron Corbin. However, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came to the ring to interrupt him and eventually he and Lynch put Corbin down on the mat.

After that segment, “The Man” teamed up with Charlotte Flair to defeat the team of Sasha Banks and WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley. Charlotte Flair picked up the win via submission on Bayley using her Figure Eight. After the match, Sasha and Bayley recovered at ringside.

They’ll all be a part of the WWE 2K20 Showcase mode, and also will be involved in this Sunday’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. Becky puts the Raw Women’s Championship on the line versus Sasha and Bayley defends the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Charlotte.

Becky’s fellow cover star Roman Reigns was also in action on SmackDown’s debut episode. Reigns took on his foe Erick Rowan in a Lumberjack match. Rowan’s tag partner Luke Harper got into the ring to interfere before Daniel Bryan intervened on Reigns’ behalf. After Bryan hit a running knee on Harper, Reigns picked up a win on Rowan. Bryan and Reigns will team up at Hell in a Cell to take on Harper and Rowan.
