WWE 2K20 Twitter Releases Statements About Hacked 2K Social Media Accounts

As of Friday, hackers were able to get into several popular video games’ social media pages to post vulgar and offensive content. The WWE 2K20’s Facebook was among the compromised accounts. It had messages that made references to WWE superstars and WWE’s new competitor AEW. On Saturday, WWE 2K20 Twitter issued statements related to the recent 2K hacking that affected several games’ Facebook pages.

WWE 2K20 Twitter releases statements about hacked accounts

The various WWE 2K social media accounts posted messages to their followers or subscribers on Saturday, November 16. That included WWE 2K20 Twitter which posted a first message acknowledging the hacked accounts around midnight. The tweet (below) indicates that various 2K social media accounts were “compromised.” 2K also notes they were working to resolve the situation.

About three hours later, another message arrived on WWE 2K20 Twitter and other 2K social media. 2K indicated they fixed the compromised accounts. They also issued an apology for any of the offensive material that anyone received or saw on the compromised account.

As mentioned in the tweet above, the compromised social media incident began early on Friday (Nov. 15) evening. Some of the screenshots of compromised WWE 2K Facebook posts included vulgar and offensive references about WWE superstars. Among those mentioned are Randy Orton, Hulk Hogan, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Another few posts included derogatory and vulgar messages about WWE’s competitor AEW.

There are also screenshots making the rounds that show WWE 2K social media account with AEW as the profile picture rather than WWE 2K20 video game. It also included a banner image showing former professional wrestler Chris Benoit whom WWE disassociated from after his horrific incident years ago. All of that as well as the offensive messages is no longer there, as of this report.

Other 2K-published games’ Facebook pages were compromised

Based on a Gamerant report, the hacker that claimed responsibility on various posts went by the handle Nublom, but it’s unknown if that was the true culprit. They also report that the Borderlands video game’s Facebook page was accounted after the WWE 2K page. In addition, they mention that the hacker(s) compromised the Facebook page for another 2K-published game called Resolve.

After the reports of WWE 2K20 glitches upon the game’s release, this latest situation was another issue for the game’s image, but it appeared they resolved this one quickly. Most likely, a number of individuals sent in reports regarding the hacked social media. WWE 2K20 Twitter has nearly one million followers. The 2K Facebook pages for WWE 2K and Borderlands each have millions of followers.

Anyone following a social media account who notices suspicious behavior should always report anything that seems off to Twitter, or elsewhere.
