ZeniMax Previews Upcoming Wrathstone DLC for Elder Scrolls: Online

Following the announcement of both the upcoming Elsweyr Chapter DLC and the Season of the Dragon, ZeniMax Online Studios has given fans a preview of what to expect in the next upcoming DLC for The Elder Scrolls: Online; ‘Wrathstone’. The Wrathstone DLC is the first of three planned dungeon packs coming during the Season of the Dragon. It will also be the only one to launch ahead of Elsweyr.

The First Elder Scrolls: Online Expansion of 2019 – the Wrathstone DLC

The Wrathstone DLC preview was recently published on the game’s official website. It gives fans an overview of what they can expect in both Wrathstone and Update 21, which will launch simultaneously. According to ZeniMax, Wrathstone will be available in the Crown Store ‘soon,’ although they don’t give a release date. It will contain two new group dungeons, the Depths of Malatar, and Frostvault. While Wrathstone is a paid DLC, Update 21 will be free for all Elder Scrolls: Online players and comes with a variety of new content of its own.

Elder Scrolls Online Wrathstone Dungeon DLC Coming Soon

The name of the Wrathstone DLC comes from the Dragonstone which Abnur Tharn carries in the Elsweyr trailer; “As revealed in our Elsweyr cinematic trailer,” explains ZeniMax; “the Imperial Chancellor Abnur Tharn, using the Wrathstone tablet, has opened the Halls of Colossus and unleashed a horde of merciless Dragons upon Elsweyr and beyond. But how did he get his hands on both halves of the powerful relic? These two new dungeons tell the first part of the Season of the Dragon story and show you how the famous Redguard scholar Tharayya (returning for both dungeons!) discover these long-hidden relics.”

According to ZeniMax, the Frostvault is a frozen Dwemer vault which contains one half of the Wrathstone. Players can expect to face both Goblins and Dwarven automatons as they search for the relic at its centre. The Depths of Malatar, on the other hand, consists of an Imperial fortress and a buried Ayleid ruin which lies beneath. Players will come face to face with Daedra, a ‘Lost Imperial Legion,’ and more. The two 4-player dungeons will be available in Normal, Veteran, and Veteran Hard Mode difficulties. They feature unique rewards for completion, including new item sets, a new non-combat pet, and a new skin. Entering either of the new dungeons will reward players with the Ayleid Royal Crown hat.
