Apex Legends Always be Closing Game Mode Launches on the 20th

Tomorrow, on the 20th of January, Apex Legends players will no longer be able to play Third-Person Mode. In its place, as part of the continuing roster of new game modes featuring in the Grand Soirée event, they will instead be able to try out the Apex Legends Always be Closing mode. The title of this new mode is fairly self-explanatory; players need to ‘always be closing,’ because in this hectic mode, the ring never stops closing…

The Apex Legends Always be Closing Game Mode

The launch of the Apex Legends Always be Closing game mode marks the roughly halfway point of the two-week Grand Soirée event. Thus far, Respawn has given players the chance to try three different modes; Gold Rush Duos, LIVE.DIE.LIVE, and Third-Person Mode. Following Always be Closing, players still have three more to look forward to; Armed and Dangerous on World’s Edge, Kings Canyon After Dark, and DUMMIEs Big Day.

Apex Legends Always be Closing Game Mode Launches Tomorrow

Like most of the Apex Legends Grand Soirée game modes, Always be Closing only makes a few simple but integral changes to the standard format. Where Gold Rush Duos, for example, replaced all guns in the game with gold weapons, Always be Closing features a ring that never stops shrinking. Instead of needing to move to stay ahead of periodical shrinkages, players will need to constantly stay on the move or else be outpaced by the ring’s inexorable advance. In addition to speeding up matches in a literal sense, this change is also likely to increase the tension, as players have little to no time to recover or scavenge.

Just like the other Grand Soirée game modes, Always be Closing will only be available to play for two days. After the 21st of January, it will no longer be available, and its spot will be taken by Armed and Dangerous on World’s Edge. Players looking to complete the Event Prize Track should remember that each new mode features three challenges worth a total of 1,000 points, and that you only need 5,500 points to complete the track. There is also a special badge for trying all seven modes at least once.
