Battlefield 5 Event: ‘A Few Good Soldiers’ Starts Today

Today marks the official start date of Lightning Strikes, the second chapter of Battlefield 5’s Tides of War. With the start of the post-launch content chapter also comes the start of the chapter’s first event; ‘A Few Good Soldiers’. All told, DICE has five events planned throughout Lightning Strikes, and the first Battlefield 5 event will run for the next two weeks. It features a new gameplay mode and two new Weekly Challenges.

The ‘A Few Good Soldiers’ Battlefield 5 Event

The ‘A Few Good Soldiers’ Battlefield 5 event will run from today until the 30th of January, when it will come to an end and the second event, ‘Hold the Line,’ will start. The focus of ‘A Few Good Soldiers’ is on a new game mode which will only be available during the event; Squad Conquest. This mode is essentially the Conquest game mode in miniature, with just two squads of four players on each side. The two teams will be trying to claim three objective sites on three new map variants. DICE has put together three specially condensed versions of the existing Battlefield 5 maps for Squad Conquest, with versions available for Arras, Hamada, and Rotterdam.

The two Weekly Challenges taking place during ‘A Few Good Soldiers’ are also themed around the new Squad Conquest game mode. Both features a new weapon as the reward for players who reach and complete the final objective. In week 1, completing the Weekly Challenge will earn you the Zk-383 Submachine Gun, usable by the Medic class. Completing week 2’s Weekly Challenge will net you the Modele 1944 Semi-Automatic Rifle, available to the Assault class.

This event also marks the first opportunity for players to start earning Lightning Strikes Chapter XP, which counts towards your Chapter Rank and unlocks up to 40 different unique rewards. It’s also the first chance to start working on the new Special Assignments. When the event comes to an end, Squad Conquest will no longer be available, so be sure to get in as much time with it in the next two weeks as possible. DICE has said that if fans respond positively to the mode, then it could return to the game on a longer-term basis in the future.
