New Battlefield 5 Update Improves Firestorm and More

DICE has now released their second Battlefield 5 update of April 2019, with tweaks and improvements coming to a variety of things. One of the key areas to receive tweaks is Firestorm, the game’s relatively new battle royale mode. The update also introduces a variety of new content which will become available as Trial by Fire, the current Tides of War chapter, continues.

What’s New in the Second Battlefield 5 Update of April 2019?

As per usual, this new Battlefield 5 update includes a wide range of subtle tweaks and changes to vehicles, weapons, and more. There are also plenty of bug fixes for minor glitches and the like. One of the most significant changes is to the Blenheim aircraft; this plane has had its 250 and 500lb bombs replaced with 500 and 1000lb bombs. Its 40lb bomb upgrades are in a new place, while its .50 cal gun upgrade now boasts explosive rounds. This should boost the capabilities of the Blenheim by a significant amount.

Battlefield 5 Update Makes Firestorm Adjustments 2

When it comes to Firestorm, DICE have improved the mode’s Victory screen and made a variety of balancing adjustments. Players can now carry five armour plates instead of three, for example. Meanwhile, the health of soldiers after being downed has been upped from 200 to 300. The studio has even improved the amount of XP players get in Firestorm, to help balance it against other existing modes. As a visual change, the spotting flare radius circle is now a different colour, as players were sometimes confusing it with objective areas on the mini-map.

Of course, the Battlefield 5 update also includes general stability improvements and fixes crashes. Finally, the update has some PC-specific improvements for Firestorm matchmaking and bug-fixes. A single Xbox One improvement corrects the controller mapping for the Stuka B-1 Nitrous Specialisation.
