Borderlands 3 Vault Hunters: What We Know So Far About Zane Flynt

When Borderlands 3 launches in September, fans will get to play as any of four new Vault Hunters; Amara, FL4K, Moze, and Zane Flynt. Thus far, Gearbox hasn’t revealed much about these four characters. However, that may soon change, as the studio announced today that they would be releasing more Borderlands 3 Vault Hunter details during the next two weeks. Among the four, Zane Flynt, also known as “The Operative,” has a particularly unique play-style.

Borderlands 3 Vault Hunters: Zane Flynt

“Zane Flynt, brother of the infamous Captain and Baron Flynt, has been around the galactic block more than a few times,” reads the character’s official cosplay guide; “Over the years, he’s worked for, against, and along with every major corporation conduction espionage and assassinations for the highest bidder. With cutting edge technology and decades of mercenary experience, Zane uses his Sentinel Drone and other gadgets to disorient, disrupt, and destroy his targets.”

Borderlands 3 Vault Hunters Zane Flynt What We Know 2

Zane Flynt’s family connections are a little surprising. After all, Captain Flynt was a fairly minor pirate-themed bandit boss who appeared early in Borderlands 2. Baron Flynt was also a bandit who appeared in the original Borderlands, although without the pirate aesthetic. Certainly, Zane Flynt seems to have had much grander ambitions than his two bandit brothers. After all, he is both a Vault Hunter and an intergalactic corporate assassin! When it comes to play-style, Zane seems to be an interesting blend of aspects from previous Vault Hunters.

The two Vault Hunters whom Zane perhaps has the most in common with are actually both from Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Namel, Wilhelm and Jack. Like Wilhelm, Zane has the ability to summon a drone. (Although he only summons the one, and it does seem to be less central to his play-style.) Additionally, like Jack, he is able to create holographic doubles of himself. Jack was a DLC Vault Hunter in The Pre-Sequel with a very unique style of play; it’s possible that his style may have been refined into what has become Zane Flynt. Fans will have to wait and see how the two compare when the game releases in September.
