Gearbox Releases New Borderlands 3 Character Trailer for FL4K

Bringing Gearbox’s series of Borderlands 3 character trailers to a close, the studio released the fourth and final Vault Hunter trailer earlier today. This trailer focuses on FL4K, the robotic “Beastmaster,” who will be available to play alongside Amara, Moze, and Zane Flynt. Following the trends set by the previous three trailers, the video serves to give players an introduction to FL4K’s character, rather than gameplay.

The FL4K Borderlands 3 Character Trailer

Over the course of the last two weeks, Gearbox has now released four new Borderlands 3 character trailers. The first was for Zane Flynt, then Moze, then Amara. Now, the series has come to an end with FL4K. The latest video gives fans a glimpse at FL4K’s personality and backstory, but no more than a glimpse. We already know a little more about the robotic Beastmaster, thanks to the official cosplay guide.

“An emergent AI driven in an ongoing quest for self-discovery,” it reads; “FL4K wanders from world to world accompanied by beasts. While they feel a connection with the primal wisdom of animals, the social constructs of humans are strange to them. On their endless hunt, FL4K’s loyal Skag, Spiderant, and Jabber companions help them track and claim their quarry, be it human, Vault Hunter, or anything in between.”

Borderlands 3 Character Trailer FL4K 2

The trailer does offer fans a more close-up look at FL4K’s four companions, making it clear that all three animals have mechanical parts. It’s unclear whether these are augmentations or prosthetics for lost body parts. No doubt more will be revealed in-game as to the backstory of FL4K and his pack of beasts. Interestingly, his Jabber companion seems to be a completely new animal for the Borderlands series. While Skags and Spiderants have featured plenty in previous games, Jabbers are a new addition. They may be a creature native to one of the new planets featuring in the game.
