Madden 22 Superstar X-Factor Abilities for Defensive Players Revealed Including Khalil Mack, Aaron Donald
The best defensive players in the NFL rely on special skills and talents that other players don’t seem to have. They include stars like Aaron Donald, Khalil Mack, Von Miller, and Myles Garrett. These players are amongst the elite players in EA’s Madden video game. They’ll have Madden 22 Superstar X-Factor abilities available for use when the new game arrives, with 11 revealed on Friday.
Madden 22 Superstar X-Factor Abilities revealed for defensive stars
The Madden 22 Superstar X-Factor abilities that will be in the upcoming game are mostly returning from the previous editions. They’ll include Avalanche, Blitz, Fearmonger, Shutdown, Unstoppable Force, and Zone Hawk. Here’s a look at 10 of the abilities and which players in the game will have them available at launch.
- Avalanche: Bobby Wagner MLB, Jamal Adams SS
- Blitz: Aaron Donald RE
- Bottleneck: Jalen Ramsey CB
- Fearmonger: Fletcher Cox DT, Chandler Jones LOLB, Von Miller LOLB
- Momentum Shift: Chris Jones DT
- Reinforcement: Tyrann Mathieu SS, Derwin James SS
- Relentless: J.J. Watt LE, Nick Bosa RE
- Run Stuffer: Lavonte David MLB
- Shutdown: Jaire Alexander CB, Stephen Gilmore CB, Tre’Davious White CB
- Zone Hawk: Xavien Howard CB, Devin McCourty FS, Fred Warner MLB
Triggering the above Superstar X-Factor abilities involves achieving certain in-game feats. For example, to trigger Avalanche requires three hit-stick tackles. Once in the zone, the player will be able to force fumbles with downhill hit-sticks. If 30 offensive yards are allowed by the defense, the ability is deactivated.
For Fearmonger, there need to be two defensive line sacks. This activates an ability that gives the player a chance to pressure a quarterback even when engaged with an offensive blocker. Giving up 20 offensive yards on a play will shut off the ability.

Seven players have Unstoppable Force ability
In terms of the Madden 22 Superstar X-Factor abilities, a total of seven players will begin the game with the Unstoppable Force. This ability gives quicker block shedding on pass rush wins. To trigger it, a player needs two defensive line sacks. If 10 offensive yards are given up after, that will deactivate the ability.
Players with this ability include Colts’ DT DeForest Buckner, Saints’ LE Cameron Jordan, Vikings LE Danielle Hunter, Chargers LOLB Joey Bosa, Bears’ LOLB Khalil Mack, Steelers’ LOLB T.J. Watt, and Browns’ RE Myles Garrett.
The defensive Superstar X-Factors close out the week in terms of the abilities revealed for EA’s Madden NFL 22 game. Ahead of these abilities, we saw the X-Factors for quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends. Each of the players in the Madden 99 Club has at least one X-Factor at the game’s launch.
In Madden 21, there were special teams players who had abilities available. They included being immune to the “free the kicker” play or giving a slower-moving guide bar for more accurate kicks. These will likely return, along with other abilities that were non-X-Factors in the game.
The Madden 22 video game arrives on August 20, 2021, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Windows PCs, and Google Stadia.
