Overwatch: Here’s How Map Vote System Could Look Like In-Game

Every now and then, Blizzard keeps adding or revamping/tweaking in-game features in Overwatch. Recently, they added a brand-new feature called Role Queue that allows players to pick from a certain role category. New Season if live in Overwatch and players has been grinding for top tier rank. There are many suggestions from the community. Lately, players have been asking for a Map Voting System in Overwatch.

Map Vote System in Overwatch?

This Reddit user has made a mock-up design of how a Map Voting system could look like and how it should be implemented in-game. Now, you might be thinking that this will end up with players playing the same map over and over again. Well, the Reddit user also had some FAQ in his thread, take a look:

Q: This means the same maps will be played over and over!

A: Not true. Even if we assume King’s Row will be picked every single time it appears, it would only appear 9.76% of the time.

Q: But this means some maps will never be picked!

A: Not true. Although the choice between King’s Row and Horizon will almost always result in KR being picked, the choice between Hanamura and Anubis is a lot less clear. Every map will see some play. Less popular maps will see less play, which is as it should be.

Q: But this means 2cp some map types will be picked very rarely!

A: If that happens, maybe it will inspire Blizzard to rework 2cp that map type to make it more palatable to the playerbase. In the meantime, why should players be forced to play a map type that is so universally frustrating, 1/4 of the time?

Q: This will take a long time!

A: Ten seconds per match seems like a small price to pay.

Will This Be Added in Overwatch?

Now, we do know that this is not the best way to implement this system in-game. And if Blizzard were to add this feature in Overwatch in the first place, they will be making their own design and revamping the UI when the match ends. What do you think about this? Let us know in comments!

Overwatch was released on May 24, 2016, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
