Since launch, Respawn has added just one new playable character to the Apex Legends roster; Octane, who was added at the start of Season 1. While data-mining has revealed quite a few renders of possible characters in the game files, Respawn has said that fans shouldn’t assume that such leaks are a“source of truth”. In that case, with speculation abounding, there is one very interesting possibility; Kuben Blisk, the villain of Titanfall 2.
Could Blisk Feature as One of the Playable Apex Legends Characters?
Kuben Blisk was the main antagonist of Titanfall 2, though he first appeared as a secondary character in the first Titanfall. As the leader of the mercenary group, the Apex Predators, Blisk and his mercenaries dominated the story of Titanfall 2. Although the game seemingly built towards a final confrontation with Blisk, the mercenary leader escaped unharmed, leaving players to face off against his second-in-command, Slone.
Canonically, Apex Legends takes place thirty years after the events of Titanfall 2. Blisk is already in the game, where he introduces players to the Apex Games. Given the name, it’s a safe guess that Blisk may be the founder of the tournament, though fans don’t know much about his involvement at present. Character renders for Blisk in Apex Legends are available on ArtStation, courtesy of character artist Alessandro Baldasseroni. While these renders were created for the game’s cinematics, they establish a clear appearance for the grizzled mercenary; an appearance which could easily inform his design as a playable Legend.
Blisk would certainly be an interesting addition to the roster; perhaps cast as the ruthless founder stepping back into the ring to show the young upstarts how it’s done. It would also be a nice way to further bind the canon of Apex Legends to the Titanfall franchise, especially following the news that Respawn has chosen to push their Titanfall plans to focus on developing Apex. For now, fans will have to wait for possible news regarding new characters. Respawn is planning to reveal details about Season 2 at the EA Play event in June. However, there is reportedly another new character coming at some point in Season 1 as well.
