How to Unlock the Battlefield 5 Mk III Rifle in This Week’s Challenge

Continuing the progress of Battlefield 5’s Lightning Strikes chapter for Tides of War, there is a new Battlefield 5 Weekly Challenge currently available. The second challenge of the ‘Armour on the Horizon’ event, this challenge is the last before the return of the Rush game mode. It also features a new weapon as its reward; the Battlefield 5 Mk III Rifle, a new bolt-action rifle for the Recon class.

Armour on the Horizon Battlefield 5 Weekly Challenge 2: Unlocking the Mk III Rifle

If you want to unlock the Battlefield 5 Mk III Rifle, you’ll need to complete enough of the objectives to reach the end of the challenge. The weapon is certainly worth picking up for players who like playing Recon; “For a straight-pull, bolt-action rifle,” explains DICE“this weapon has a high rate of fire, which puts it more on the ‘light’ range. Its iron sights keep a pretty clear view, making the Mk III more useful on medium ranges.”

  • The Objective: Featuring both a generic name and a simple goal, The Objective can be completed in a single match. Head into a match of Conquest, Breakthrough, or Domination and either capture a map objective, arm a bomb, or defuse a bomb. Any of these will complete the goal.
  • Shoot for the Stars: For this objective, you need to deal 400 damage to aircraft, so focus on game modes and maps which feature aircraft and plenty of opportunities for anti-air, like Fjell 652. Of course, you can deal this damage in any way, so aim to use anti-air vehicles and machine gun emplacements.
  • Mudwrestler: To get this objective, you need to kill three enemies with a melee weapon or bayonet. In a reverse manner to Shoot for the Stars, focus on smaller, close-quarters maps, especially urban ones where the widespread cover will help you get close to your enemies.

Armour on the Horizon Battlefield 5 Weekly Challenge 2: Continued Objectives

  • Eyes on the Prize: To complete this objective, you need to score 3,500 objective points. This should work similarly to your strategy for completing ‘The Objective’; arm or defuse bombs, capture objectives, etc.
  • Toybox: For this objective, the easiest way to complete the goal is to play Support, or play alongside a friend playing Support. You need to either resupply your teammates’ ammo with Ammo Crates or use an Ammo Crate 15 times. Ensure you have Ammo Crates equipped, of course, before you attempt this objective.
  • Long Road Ahead: Here, you’ll need to play Grand Operations (a good opportunity to try the new Hannut Grand Operation). The objective is simply to score 2,000 points in Grand Operations, so simply play Grand Operations and focus on the objectives to maximise your point score.

  • One Man Army: This could be a difficult one if you aren’t an experienced player, as you need to either kill or suppress seven enemies in a single life. Suppressing is likely the easiest way to do this; particularly while playing as the Support class and using the Machine Gunner combat role.
  • Grand Ambitions: Continuing on from Long Road Ahead, you need to win two days in Grand Operations to complete this objective. A single Grand Operation lasts 3-4 days. It doesn’t matter which days you win, as long as you win on 2 of them. Note that this doesn’t even have to be in a single Grand Operation.
  • Second Wind: Similarly, Second Wind follows on from Eyes on the Prize; you must capture, arm, or disarm 2 objectives without dying. You may wish to play alongside a friend playing as a Medic for this one; it’s understandably difficult to complete objectives without significant risk.
  • Primary Priority: The final objective of this week’s Battlefield 5 Weekly Challenge, Primary Priority challenges you to capture, arm, or disarm 6 objectives. This is very similar to Second Wind, but it doesn’t matter if you die. Simply play objective-based game modes and complete an objective six times.
