Recently, during San Diego Comic-Con, Weta Workshop took the opportunity to showcase a variety of their upcoming products. While the design studio may be most famous for design and effects work in the film industry, Weta Workshop also produces several collectible ranges for films, games, and other properties. In addition to their new Apex Legends figures, the company also revealed at SDCC four upcoming Borderlands 3 MINI EPICS figures; their first collectibles for the Borderlands franchise.
Weta Workshop’s Borderlands 3 MINI EPICS Range
Weta Workshop has drawn attention from the gaming audience lately for their work on an upcoming range of Apex Legends figurines. However, it seems that the company has also partnered with Gearbox to produce figures for Borderlands 3. Overall, four Borderlands 3 MINI EPICS were revealed at SDCC, with an estimated release date of November 2019. Weta Workshop’s MINI EPICS catalogue are smaller figures with a more cartoon-ish design. They also produce larger-scale, more realistic figurines.
The figures revealed at SDCC include Tiny Tina, Maya, Zer0, and a Psycho Bandit. Each one is currently available for pre-order on the Weta Workshop website for £29.99. It’s currently unknown if this will be the extent of the company’s Borderlands 3 range, or whether there is more to come. After all, the company also revealed four Apex Legends MINI EPICS at SDCC, and more figures are expected to be included in that range. (The Apex Legends figures are also due to release in November, later this year.)
Borderlands 3 itself is due to release on the 13th of September. As such, fans will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on Weta Workshop’s upcoming figures. At present, Gearbox is gradually releasing more and more information about the game; they recently released the first details of Promethea, for example, the first of the Borderlands 3 planets besides Pandora. Additionally, fans got a glimpse of some of the game’s most visceral content recently thanks to its ESRB rating summary.
