Gun Game is Now Available to Play in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Season One of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare continues to deliver for players in 2020, and shortly after the release of a new 1v1 Gunfight mode, Infinity Ward has released Gun Game; a returning classic of the series. Dating back to some of the earliest first-person shooters, Gun Game features a unique form of weapon progression, with a focus on arcade-style play.

The New Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gun Game Mode

The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gun Game mode is now live on all platforms as part of the latest Season One content release. It comes just days after the release of the 1v1 Gunfight variant mode, and there are likely more modes to come before the season ends. Certainly, a 3v3 Gunfight mode is known to be in development, and could launch very soon. A whole variety of modes have already been added during this first season, including Gunfight O.S.P., Drop Zone, Infected, Cranked, and Grind. (Not to mention Snowfight.)

Of course, Gun Game should be familiar to any long-term fan of Call of Duty. After all, versions of the mode have featured in most games in the series, not to mention plenty of other first-person shooters. The concept is relatively simple; every player starts with the same gun, and every time they score a kill, that gun swaps for something different. Players must progress through a set order, with the guns generally getting weaker or harder to use, until they get a kill with the final weapon. (Which is often a knife or other such weapon which puts you at a disadvantage against most other players.)

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Gun Game Now Available

It’s currently unknown what Infinity Ward might have planned next. The studio did release an infographic at the start of Season One, detailing what would be coming during the season. However, it’s clear now that the schedule only covered pre-2020 content. As such, fans don’t know exactly what to expect at the moment, allowing Infinity Ward to drop surprises like this with relatively little notice.
