All Battlefield 5 Assault and Semi-Automatic Rifles Featuring at Launch

Recently, DICE released detailed breakdowns of the four classes which will feature in Battlefield 5 at launch; the Assault, Medic, Recon, and Support classes. Notably, the breakdowns detail which weapon categories each class has access to. Now, DICE has published a complete list of all the weapons, vehicles, gadgets, and more which will feature at launch. The Assault class has two assigned weapon categories; Battlefield 5 assault rifles and semi-automatic rifles. All told, there will be 8 weapons in these categories featuring at launch.

The Battlefield 5 Assault and Semi-Automatic Rifles are Assigned to the Assault Class

“Assault Rifles are the bigger brother of the SMGs,” says DICE; “with better accuracy and damage at range, making them more suited for medium range”. There will be 3 Battlefield 5 assault rifles in the game at launch, though DICE is likely to add more in post-launch content. The full list of Battlefield 5 assault rifles is as follows:

  • StG 44: “Considered by many to be the first real assault rifle. It combines a high rate of fire with good accuracy and stopping power”. This German rifle was widely used on the Eastern front, and would actually serve as an inspiration for the later AK-47. However, it wasn’t introduced until 1943; too late to change the course of the war. East Germany continued to use the rifle until 1962.
  • Sturmgewehr 1-5: “The selective-fire variant of the Gewehr 1-5 semi-automatic rifle.”
  • M1907 SF: “Similar to the M1 carbine, only heavier and more powerful”. The M1907 SL was a weapon which featured in Battlefield 1, as a Medic class weapon. The new SF will be an Assault class firearm, and is one of seven different weapons from Battlefield 1 which will be featuring in Battlefield 5 at launch.

Battlefield 5 is Likely to Add More Assault Rifles and Semi-Automatic Rifles Post-Launch

“Then there’s the Semi-Automatic Rifles,” continues DICE; “generally more ranged than assault rifles, but not necessarily long range”. The larger of the Assault’s two weapon categories; there will be 5 semi-automatic rifles in Battlefield 5 at launch. The full list of Battlefield 5 semi-automatic rifles is as follows:

  • Selbstlader 1916: “An early German semi-automatic rifle whose sensitivity to field conditions made it more popular with the German air force than its army. Only 1,000 were ever made”. This weapon also appeared in Battlefield 1, where it was used by the Medic. It is now a weapon for the Assault class instead.
  • Gewehr 43: “A rifle so sturdy it can be used as a ladder rung if needed”. Developed in 1943, this rifle was quickly mass-produced and were based on the designs of Soviet SVT-40 rifles captured by the Germans.
  • Gewehr 1-5: “A semi-automatic rifle that used the same detachable magazine as the StG 44.”
  • M1A1 Carbine: “Very fast firing Semi Auto with a rather weak bullet. Best used within 50 meters”. An American carbine developed in 1942, the M1A1 was a paratrooper model of the M1 carbine.
  • Turner SMLE: “Fires faster than the Gewehr but has a weaker bullet at range.”
