Creative Assembly Announces Total War: Three Kingdoms Royal Edition

Following on from the recent release of its long-awaited “The Furious Wild” DLC, Creative Assembly has announced the release of a special limited edition of Total War: Three Kingdoms; the Total War: Three Kingdoms Royal Edition. This new version is a retail bundle of the award-winning strategy game which won’t be available digitally.

The Total War: Three Kingdoms Royal Edition

The Total War: Three Kingdoms Royal Edition is very similar indeed to the Total War: Warhammer Savage Edition; a retail bundle for Total War: Warhammer which was released a couple of months ago. Like the Savage Edition, this new ‘Royal Edition’ is a limited physical release of the game, featuring new box art. While the Savage Edition featured the original Total War: Warhammer game bundled with its Chaos Warriors and Call of the Beastmen DLC packs, the Total War: Three Kingdoms Royal Edition only includes one DLC; the Eight Princes.

Total War Three Kingdoms Royal Edition Announced

Set almost exactly one hundred years after the game’s core campaign, the Eight Princes DLC features a unique campaign with eight playable leaders (the namesake Eight Princes), set in the historical War of the Eight Princes. It was the first Chapter Pack DLC to release for Total War: Three Kingdoms. The core game, of course, focuses on the start of the Three Kingdoms period itself. There are 12 playable leaders available for the game’s central campaign. (Not including several extra leaders which have been released as Free-LC since launch, which players can now download for free; Tao Qian, Yan Baihu, and Shi Xie.)

The retail bundle does not include any of Total War: Three Kingdoms’ other DLC packs. Those include the day-one Yellow Turban Rebellion DLC, as well as Mandate of Heaven, A World Betrayed, and the very recent The Furious Wild, which adds the Nanman as a new playable faction to the game. It also doesn’t include the blood pack DLC, which is a relatively minor effects pack. Players who pick up the Royal Edition will have to buy those separately.
