killamch89 Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 When it comes to horror games, do you gravitate toward the unsettling tension of psychological horror, where fear is built through atmosphere, narrative, and mind-bending scenarios? Or do you prefer the thrill of monster-based horror, where grotesque creatures and jump scares take center stage? What makes one more terrifying or enjoyable to you?
Scorpion Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 I prefer psychological horror for its deep atmosphere and narrative. It lingers long after, creating a haunting experience that resonates.

The fear that comes from questioning your own perception, like in Silent Hill 2 or Amnesia: The Dark Descent, tends to stick with me longer than a quick monster jump scare. That said, well-executed monster-based horror like Resident Evil or Dead Space can still deliver a unique sense of dread, especially when the creatures are grotesque and well-designed. To me, psychological horror lingers in the mind, while monster horror gets your heart racing.
