killamch89 Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 I’ve been wondering about VPNs on devices like Steam Deck, Aya Neo, and OneXPlayer. Have you tried routing your traffic through a VPN while gaming? I’m curious about whether it impacts performance particularly ping, frame rates, and download speeds plus any noticeable battery drain. On the flip side, does a VPN help with region-lock bypassing, early access to international game releases, or privacy when on public Wi-Fi? Which VPN providers or configurations have worked best for you, and do you set it up system-wide or just within specific gaming clients?
Scorpion Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 I think using VPNs on my handheld gaming PC can be beneficial for accessing geo-restricted content and ensuring online privacy. However, it might introduce some latency, which could affect gameplay. Overall, I see VPNs as useful tools for security and access, as long as they don't significantly impact performance.
killamch89 Posted May 30, 2025 Author Posted May 30, 2025 I'm cautious about VPNs on handhelds because they can trigger anti-cheat systems and potentially violate terms of service for some games. The privacy benefits don't always outweigh the risk of account bans.
