What mobile game mechanic do you think could be adapted to non-gaming apps for fun?

Mobile games often feature addictive mechanics like daily check-ins, loot crates, progression bars, and social gifting. Which of these do you think could be adapted successfully to non-gaming apps for increased user engagement and fun? For instance, could a productivity app implement “level-up” rewards for meeting goals? Or might a fitness tracker borrow a gacha-style system to unlock workout tips or healthy recipes? Some cooking apps already grant badges for mastering new recipes, but what about educational platforms using randomized trivia “loot boxes” to incentivize study?

I think gamified progress or reward systems could be adapted to non-gaming apps, like fitness or productivity tools. Making tasks feel like challenges or achievements can boost motivation and engagement, making daily routines more enjoyable and motivating users to stay consistent.

Achievement badges in productivity apps could make mundane tasks more engaging. Unlocking 'Email Zero Hero' or 'Meeting Master' badges might gamify workplace productivity without feeling childish if implemented with appropriate professional aesthetics.
