What’s your take on dual-channel versus quad-channel memory setups for gaming?

I’ve been debating upgrading my rig’s RAM configuration and wanted to get your take: is a quad-channel memory setup worth the extra cost over dual-channel when gaming? I know that quad-channel can theoretically double memory bandwidth, but most mainstream gaming motherboards support only dual-channel. For those running HEDT platforms with quad-channel capability, did you notice a tangible difference in frame rates or load times in modern titles? Or are the gains negligible unless you’re doing heavy video editing or 3D rendering?

I believe dual-channel memory is sufficient for most gaming needs, providing good performance at a lower cost. Quad-channel setups offer marginal improvements but are more beneficial for intensive tasks like content creation. For gaming, dual-channel is usually the most practical choice.

For pure gaming, dual-channel is usually sufficient and the performance difference is minimal in most titles. I'd rather spend the extra money on a better GPU or faster storage than quad-channel memory - the price-to-performance ratio just isn't there for gaming specifically.
