killamch89 Posted June 10, 2025 Posted June 10, 2025 I’ve noticed more PC gaming handhelds now advertise built-in blue light filters to supposedly reduce eye strain during long sessions. I’m curious: have any of you actually tested these filters on devices like the Steam Deck, AYANEO, or GPD Win? Did the filter meaningfully decrease fatigue or headaches? Were there any downsides, like washed-out colors or reduced contrast that hurt visibility in dark games? Does it interfere with accurate color reproduction for games where visuals matter? And finally, is this a “must-have” feature you look for when shopping, or just a nice extra you rarely use?
Scorpion Posted June 13, 2025 Posted June 13, 2025 I find blue light filtering features helpful, especially during long gaming sessions. They reduce eye strain and fatigue, making gaming more comfortable. It’s a useful feature that helps protect my eyes without sacrificing too much visual quality.
killamch89 Posted June 16, 2025 Author Posted June 16, 2025 I've been using the blue light filter on my Steam Deck for evening gaming sessions and honestly notice less eye strain during longer play sessions. The color shift takes some getting used to, especially in games with important visual cues, but it's worth it for extended play.
