What’s your opinion on emulation and running retro games on your PC?

Retro gaming revival is huge, and PC emulation plays a big role. Do you view emulators for consoles like SNES, PlayStation, or Dreamcast as a fantastic way to preserve gaming history, or do you worry they undermine the original hardware market? Have you encountered compatibility issues or needed BIOS files when setting up emulators like RetroArch or PCSX? Do you think graphical enhancement filters and save-state features enhance the experience, or should classics be played in their pure, unaltered form?

I think emulation is a fantastic way to preserve and enjoy retro games that might otherwise be lost. It allows for easy access and convenience, but it's important to support original developers and respect copyright laws while exploring these classic titles.

Emulation is absolutely essential for game preservation - without it, entire generations of classics would become unplayable as original hardware fails. I've had great success with RetroArch for most systems, though getting the BIOS files legally can be tricky. The enhancement filters are a nice touch for games that aged poorly visually.
