Which PS1 title’s sequel disappointed you most?

What sequel to a PlayStation 1 game did you eagerly anticipate, only to be disappointed when you played it? For me, it was a combination of high expectations and a drastic shift in tone that made it hard to enjoy. I’d love to hear what game let you down the most and why - was it the story, the gameplay mechanics, the graphics, or something else entirely?

The sequel to the PS1's Dino Crisis truly disappointed me. While the original was a tense survival horror classic, Dino Crisis 3 veered wildly into a generic action space shooter. It completely lost the series' terrifying identity and suspense.

Resident Evil 2 was actually better than the first, but Resident Evil 3 felt rushed - shorter campaign, less exploration, and Nemesis became more annoying than scary.
