killamch89 Posted June 16, 2025 Posted June 16, 2025 I’ve been replaying a bunch of classic PS1 games lately, and I’m curious: which title do you think nailed AI scaling? By that I mean enemies that gradually become more challenging without ever feeling unfair where the jump from “easy” to “normal” to “hard” feels like a natural progression, not just a bunch of extra hit points slapped on. For me, I always return to Tomb Raider II, where later levels introduce smarter patrol patterns and environmental awareness.
Scorpion Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 For me, Gran Turismo 2's AI difficulty scaled seamlessly. As you progressed through races and unlocked faster cars, rival drivers became noticeably more aggressive and precise, making every new championship a satisfying challenge.
killamch89 Posted June 19, 2025 Author Posted June 19, 2025 Tomb Raider II's enemy AI progression felt natural because later levels introduced smarter patrol patterns and environmental awareness rather than just increasing health pools - enemies would investigate disturbances, coordinate attacks, and use terrain advantages in ways that felt organic rather than artificially enhanced.
