killamch89 Posted June 16, 2025 Posted June 16, 2025 The infamous Red Ring of Death could end up costing over $140 for out‑of‑warranty fixes back in the day. When yours glowed three crimson lights, did you pay for repair, DIY it, or upgrade hardware instead? Was Microsoft’s extended warranty offer enough? How did repair fees compare to picking up a refurbished console? Did the prospect of future failures deter you from using your 360 heavily, or did you just power on regardless?
Scorpion Posted June 17, 2025 Posted June 17, 2025 I found the Xbox 360’s red ring repair cost frustrating, as it was quite expensive and disappointing considering the console’s reliability issues. It felt unfair, especially since many gamers experienced the problem. Hopefully, future consoles offer better durability and affordability.
killamch89 Posted June 17, 2025 Author Posted June 17, 2025 I learned to do the towel trick and other DIY fixes - couldn't justify repair costs when there was no guarantee it wouldn't happen again next month.
