Kane99 Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 A new rumor has come forward from a hardware insider in regards to Microsoft's recent announcement about their team-up with AMD, with the intent to co-engineer silicon for its next gen Xbox console. And it's being alleged by this insider that the console could be well over $1000. But, it's also being said the new Xbox will be essentially a PC that can be upgraded, and may even have other stores/shops from Steam, Epic, EA, etc. More on this news here - https://twistedvoxel.com/next-gen-xbox-will-be-sold-at-profit-price-exceed-1000/ It seems the next gen talk has been blowing up as of late. There was even talk about the PS6 already. But to be fair, we're already nearing 5 years for both the PS5/Xbox Series X|S, and if they are going by the 5 year period consoles used to last, we could probably expect new gen consoles sooner rather than later. What do you guys think though? About this and about the news of Xbox becoming a fancy PC.
Scorpion Posted June 28, 2025 Posted June 28, 2025 A $1000+ Xbox that's essentially an upgradeable PC with access to Steam and Epic? That's a bold rumor! While it'd certainly appeal to some, the price point is a huge hurdle for a console. It shows how the lines between consoles and PCs are blurring, potentially forcing quicker generational shifts.
