How did the Sega Dreamcast official memory card cases compare to generic ones?

Dreamcast’s official memory card cases promised snug, protective storage, but countless third‑party options flooded the market. For those who’ve tried both, how did the official Sega cases stack up against generic alternatives? Consider factors like build quality, card capacity, ease of card insertion/removal, and aesthetics. Did the official cases’ snug fit prevent wear, or were they too tight? Did cheaper cases offer better value or fall apart?

Official Dreamcast VMU cases were beloved for their built-in LCD screen and mini-games. Generic memory card cases, while often offering higher storage capacity (like 4X or 8X), typically lacked these interactive features. You sacrificed the VMU's unique charm for more raw save space.

I still have my original Sega case from 2000 - the clear plastic yellowed over time but it's built like a tank and survived multiple moves across the country.
